Ariel Giuliano is a PhD candidate in History at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, in joint supervision with the Université de Genève. He is also enrolled in the second-level Master’s programme in Religions, Esotericism, and New Spiritualities at the Università di Pisa. He studied at the Università Statale di Milano, where he obtained both a Bachelor’s degree in History and a Master’s degree in Historical Sciences, graduating with highest honours in both cases.

His research interests range from the history of political and religious diplomacy in the sixteenth century – forming the focus of his doctoral project –, to the history of esotericism, magic, and witchcraft in the early modern period, as well as the history of inquisitorial proceedings against Freemasonry in the eighteenth century.
